A Late Quartet

A Late Quartet

Philip Seymour Hoffman, Katherine Keener, Christopher Walken, Mark Ivanir and Imogen Poots all shine in this chamber drama that explores the boundaries between art and life, as it charts a string quartet’s obsession with perfection.

When the beloved cellist of a world-renowned string quartet receives a life changing diagnosis, the group’s future hangs in the balance. Suppressed emotions, competing egos and uncontrollable passions threaten to derail years of friendship and collaboration. And as they prepare for their 25th anniversary concert, only the group’s intimate bond and the power of music can preserve their legacy.

Inspired by and structured around Beethoven’s Opus 131 String Quartet in C-sharp minor, ‘A Late Quartet’ is an homage to chamber music and, sadly, a melancholy swan song by the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman.
