Kursk: The Last Mission
Like the breakout TV hit ‘Chernobyl’, this thrilling drama recounts another disaster that highlighted the inefficiency of Russian state agencies.
In 2000, the K-141 Kursk submarine embarked on a routine assignment in the Barents Sea. But an explosion aboard the craft created a disaster with fatal consequences. The Russian government were slow to react and this film by Thomas Vinterberg (‘Festen’, ‘Far From the Madding Crowd’) details what went wrong. It features an all-star cast, including Colin Firth, Léa Seydoux, Matthias Schoenaerts (‘The Mustang’) and Max von Sydow.
