The Raft
Before reality TV became a popular form of entertainment, a scandalous sociological study set on the open seas proved to be way ahead of its time. In 1973, five men and six women drifted across the Atlantic on a raft as part of a scientific experiment studying the sociology of violence, aggression and sexual attraction. Although the project became known in the press as The Sex Raft nobody could predict the events that unfolded during the three month journey. Using extraordinary archive material and reuniting surviving members of the expedition, this documentary tells the story behind “one of the strangest group experiments of all time”. ★★★★ “An absorbing portrait of a bold historical experiment.” - Ian Freer, Empire ★★★★ - Tim Robey, The Telegraph
