Claire Oakley announced herself as a major new British filmmaking talent with this confident feature debut.
When reserved teenager Ruth (Molly Windsor) finds a smeared lipstick stain on her boyfriend Tom’s (Joseph Quinn) mirror and a strand of red hair on his T-shirt, a sense of unease creeps into their caravan. Setting out to find the red head, Ruth is drawn to Jade (Stefanie Martini), her fascination soon becoming an obsession. Presenting a fresh take on the coming-of-age drama, Oakley’s film is an atmospheric and intoxicating portrait of young love that confirms the promise of her earlier, acclaimed shorts.
