One of the the icons of homerotica, Tom of Finland’s oeuvre treads the precipice between art and porn. Dome Karukoski’s eminently enjoyable biopic successfully argues for the former while acknowledging the latter. Pekka Strang gives a charismatic performance as the artist, and the film works its way to an uplifting climax, played out to the blissfulness of Sylvester’s disco classic ‘Take Me to Heaven’.
