Andrew Haigh’s (45 Years, Lean on Pete) ‘Weekend’ is rare in its avoidance of cliché, and convinces in its portrait of the early stages of romance. Spending an evening with his straight friends, Russell goes to a club and picks up Glen. The following morning, Glen asks Russell to narrate the previous night’s events into a tape recorder. What follows is a witty exchange between the two men, which lasts the rest of the weekend.
